Advice - Can this be done using Gruss

Postby snickerdog » Fri May 08, 2009 1:09 pm

Hi

Just require a bit of help, want to know if the following can be done and how.

When using Gruss in-running I want to

1) Place a bet (£100 back) then instantly, have a bet (£100 Lay) put in the system to a profit of 50% my winnings.

2) During the same race I want to have a bet (£100 back) without placing the lay bet.

How would I have my settings in place for this to work.

Thanks

1) Place a bet (£100 back) then instantly, have a bet (£100 Lay) put in the system to a profit of 50% my winnings.

It doesn't have an option for this. It does have an option to place the lay bet at a number of ticks (price increments) below, but the profit varies because ticks go up in higher increments with higher odds and lower increments with lower odds.

2) During the same race I want to have a bet (£100 back) without placing the lay bet.

You could add a custom column to place the back bet with tick offset lay bet so the offset lay bet is only placed when you click this column.
Click on the "Custom columns" button to add a custom column.

Thanks for the quick reply Gary

Got my settings as TICK OFFSET fill % 50 and auto level ticked.

So this will automatically place a LAY bet at 50% my BACK bet (e.g. Back bet £100 @ 2.0, a lay bet will be placed £100 @ 1.5. Is this correct.

Pardon for my stupidness but I cant found a custom columns tab in the latest version.

Thanks again

Fill 50% has nothing to do with profit %. Fill % means if for example £50 of your back bet was matched, it will cancel your remaining £50 back bet as it is 50% filled. You would normally leave it at 100%. Also if you want your lay stake to be the same as the back stake then do not tick auto level.

To get it to place the lay bet at 1.5 in your example then enter 50 in the tick offset box and tick "ticks = %". "Ticks = %" isn't exactly what you want though as it actually means use 50% odds. It happens to work with your example, but not at different odds. The feature you want is not in Betting Assistant.

To access the custom columns there is a button just above the prices grid labelled "Custom columns". Unfortunately there isn't an option to set "ticks=%" with a custom a column. I will be adding this to a future release.

Thanks Gary (Found custom columns now had to get rid of market list)

Just tried it on the Chester Race had my CUSTOM COLUMN 1 set as TICK OFFSET 20, and auto level unticked.

So if I had the stake at £100 and averaged 21.0, would this then automatically put in a lay bet of £100 at 11.0, this seems to be what I want but couldnt tell if it was placed in the system. (Obviously im only playing small stakes till I get it right).

Then have the main program set as a normal bet.

Thanks

It would place the lay at 10.5 which is 20 ticks below 21.

You should see the lay bet appear in the bets manager at the bottom of the screen.

Cheers gary

Thats about what I want, and obviously with it been a custom column, I could have another custom column set up at a larger number of "ticks".

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
