Multiple Excel Advanced

Postby hurdl » Fri May 22, 2009 12:19 pm

Ive posted this in a new topic as the post just below me doesn't apply to me i don't think.

Basically i have a very large excel vba script and i cover all meetings, all races, all day. If there are 3 meetings on, i will open 3 versions of BA, one for each. If i just click the shortcuts for my Excel sheets, the all open in one instance of Excel. This is no good to me as Excel cannot calculate everything i need in time and becomes very unresponsive. If i open multiple instances of Excel (go to start/run/excel.exe) so i have 3 Excel.exe running in task manager, this will solve my problem, however BA will only recognise the 1th open instance of excel.exe.

I am wondering how i can run all this so BA.exe (1) is linked with excel.exe (1), BA.exe (2) is linked with excel.exe (2) etc?

Many thank and apologies if i have mis understood the other post i just didnt think that was the same as what i am after

I forgot to add, i know its not my computer that cannot process the excel calculations because the CPU is only at 33% with 39 races being monitored.

I'd never thought of this being an issue before. You have made a very good point. I will look into this and get back to you asap.

I have just uploaded a pre-release version which allows you to select the file name of the separate instance of Excel (you must have the workbook open first). After you have selected the file name the workbook and worksheet drop downs will be populated with the details from the file you selected.

You can download it using the following link.
http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... _Beta1.msi (ver 1.1.0.63)

Please let me know if it works for you.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
