LayIt, you once said you would look at making your program read data from a text file and act accordingly. For example:

Horse A, Back, 3.1, 15
Horse B, Lay, 2.0, 20

Are you still going to do this?

I think I know what my problem is I am calculating odds that I want to LAY a selection at and I am guessing that the ERROR is because the ODDS are not acceptable to BETFIAR. on my screen it looks fine i.e. 1.8 etc. but because they are calculated odds I am guessing there may be decimal places included in that figure (even though I format the cell to 2 decimal places).

Anyone got any ideas how I can calculate the odds and ensure that they will compatible to Betfair?

Create a column with all of the valid odds, then use VLOOKUP. Excel help will explain how this works.

Try using the round up function rather than formatting the cells

=+IF(F5>0,ROUNDUP(stake/F5,2),"")

If your calculations are throwing up rounded up odds that aren't on the betfair ladder you'd need to make a list of the betfair odds ladder and then just match your odds to the nearest value

Take a look at

<a href="http://www.cpearson.com/excel/lookups.htm" target="_blank">http://www.cpearson.com/excel/lookups.htm</a>

at the closest match lookups part. Should do what you need

There is a function in my program that rounds to the nearest acceptable Betfair odds. I will change the program to use this function on all requests making this error impossible.

chuffmagarley. Probably could be accommodated by triggered betting. Don't have time right now to explain how. I will be adding some examples to the website over the coming week, this will be a good example.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
