I do have a suggestion, would it be possible to send an email when the API goes down, or is "degraded"?
I check my emails quite often, but dont start betting assistant very often.
I have to admit, it is extremly poor the way Betfair does not react to the API going down. This is a firm that is going to float itself on the stock market in Autumn and days like Saturday will hit turnover, especially as it was a big day of sport.
The problem when companies do go public is that they try and get the P+L as high as possible meaning they reduce the service, hence the cost and try to get as much money as possible with the premium charge. It is all about the short term gain at the moment.
Does anyone think it will be better or worse when they list?

I wasn't at my PC so there was nothing I could do about it and of course the losing bets all fired!!! But to make money I need all my bets to fire.
Greenfingers that is a good idea. I mentioned to them in my complaint that taking these service messages down means people have no idea when logging after a site failure that there has been a problem.
Gary, I know you gave more info than Betfair yesterday which was appreciated, but do you not have a relationship manager of some sort at betfair whom you can speak to on behalf of your users who surely must be paying hefty commissions and premium charges between them.

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.
Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.
Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.
He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.
We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
