cancel InPlay bets

Postby marin71 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:28 am

Hi,

is there an easy way to cancel InPlay bets after a specific period of time?
For example I place InPlay bets and after the event goes inplay I want to cancel all not matched bets after 60 seconds?

Hi,

How are you placing the bet, manually via Betting Assistant or via the Excel triggered betting?

Use LAY-F60 (or BACK-F60) instead of LAY (or BACK), marin71. Cancels the bet after 60 seconds if not matched.

Please be aware using the above method the bet will be cancelled if not matched 60 seconds after the bet has been placed, not 60 seconds from when the market turns in play so you will have to make sure this trigger is fired just after the market turns in play.

Hi Mark and Gary,

would it possible to add such an Excel trigger into one of the next versions?

See this thread for some code written by Gary for an in-play timer.

Hi Mak and Duncan,

thanks for pointing me to the thread from Gary.
Changed my code and hopefully can test it with tomorrow's racing.

But wouldn't such a trigger not a good idea to implement it into BA?

It's already there and known as 'fill or kill', you can add modifiers to your BACK or LAY in the following order

Tick Offset - Fill or Kill - Stop Loss - Keep in Play

Hi marin71 :)

I am a little puzzled - why 60 seconds?

is there an easy way to cancel InPlay bets after a specific period of time?
For example I place InPlay bets and after the event goes inplay I want to cancel all not matched bets after 60 seconds?

What if the race is only 5f(late) or 3.2mls(premature)?

Surely the best bet is to cancel after a certain percentage of the race/event is over?

All the best - Michael :)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
