Triggers not following rules correctly

I've designed a couple of new triggers which aren't functioning correctly, not because of the rules or incorrect logic but because possibly my PC can't keep pace.

So this is a question aimed at those that understand more than me about how fast Excel and a PC can process data.

Each trigger has no more than the following IF(AND(1,2,3,4,5) rules. I have a dual core 2.8MHz PC running XP Pro and would have thought it could have kept pace without a problem. However, quite often, I know from watching the data (like the countdown clock) that a rule is not being obeyed and a bet is being triggered when it shouldn't be.

Any ideas would be helpful.....

I really don't think speed has got anything to do with it. It's absolutely impossible for "AND" to evaluate true if 1,2,3,4,5 aren't true. I think you should check the rules again.

You could try logging the cells that the rules reference in the Worksheet_Calculate event. For example.

That's interesting as my first thought was speed. I'll try the logging route and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

I think that another possibility is that Betfair are taking so long to match bets that they sometimes dont appear in Excel for quite a few seconds after being placed and therefore give the impression they've just been placed when it may have been a few seconds earlier.

Will I be happy once Wimbledon and the World Cup are over ? Bloody hell, yes I will because I think Betfair have been tinkering with their back office system to help stablise their system.

Hopefully things will be returned to normal once these competitions are over......

Does the transaction log under the account menu agree with this? The response time is shown in the transaction log and should also be a few seconds longer than you would expect.

Good point. Sadly I never looked at the transaction log prior to the WCup, so I'll monitor it from now and see what happens.
