C++ COM

Postby nerobot » Fri Jul 09, 2010 9:14 am

Hi,

Does anyone have any information, and possible a quick demo of how to use the COM interface - being controlled via C or C++ - to control BA. Also, if any of the following are not possible, I would be very grateful if you could let me know.

- Obtain the market data (i.e. back1 prices, lay prices, volumes, etc)
- Control the quick pick list (i.e. move to next race as can be done with Excel, update the quick pick list, etc)
- Control the refresh rate.
- Place backs and lays.
- Obtain the time until the next off.

Thanks for any information you can give. And I'll be sure to answer any questions to help.

Regards,

Steven

Thinking about this more myself, the COM interface might not be the best way around it. Perhaps I could control BA via Excel, but simply call a C++ dll from within the Excel VBA code. Would this be a simpler way of doing it?

The C++ could would contain a dynamically changing algorithm that will would tell BA when to back or lay (sadly can't be done direly from within Excel VBA as it would be too slow and the code required too much dynamic memory allocation).

I don't program in C++ myself, but from what I do know the DLL option would be simpler.

Cheers,

Think I'll just go for the dll route, as it seems a lot easier.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
