This is definitely possible as I have an Excel sheet that does almost exactly the same as that. Writing it from scratch if you're new to Excel might be a challenge though, if you need someone to write one then you might try the Excel Developer section.

the problem ,I think is insurmountable as it is impossible to know exactly when the race is going to go off and I want certain price parameters about 10 secs before or right at the actual off . The bet ,if it reached the price parameters eg between 2.5 and 4.5 would then be layed at betfair sp.

maybe it could be done immediately the race goes in play ?

any ideas ?

Hi Anthony
in order to get appropriate help, i think it would be better to be more specific for what you exactly you need

hi Mak,
. I want to lay a horse that comes within certain price parameters just before the actual off...not the official starting time . Either to lay in real time [eg as they are loading the stalls] or if the price parameters are met to lay the horse at betfair sp.

So, you would be fine if you just lay some horses at BFSP?
If that is the case you could have an if statement

When you log the sheet to excel tick SP only (from additional Columns)

SP will be in column Y
for example in cell AA5 place this =if(and(y5<=X,y5>=Z),"BET","NoBET")
X=your maximum odds
Z=your minimum odds

in the trigger column (Q) you can place something like
=IF(AND($E$2="In Play",$F$2<>"Suspended",AA5="BET"),"LAY","wait")

With this (haven't test - please be careful) when the market turns in play and SP is at your desired range will fire a LAY bet

Hope that helps

** don't forget to "drag" down the formulas at AA & Q columns
** if you have problem with the formulas replace , with ;

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
