Australian Horseracing - weights question

Postby davez » Fri Jul 30, 2010 8:40 am

Hi, I am hoping someone could explain the 'Age/weight' figure for a horse that is recorded in excel when logging current prices - for example

4/3-11

4 is the horses age but I am struggling to understand how 3-11 equates to the 53.5 kg that is the horses weight

& in the example race I looked at 3-11 was also the figure shown for the next horse which is to carry 53.0kg

Hope I haven't asked too stupid a question & will greatly appreciate any assistance provided

Hi Davez

Where the weight says 53 its in 'pounds', not kilograms.

There are 14 pounds in one 'stone', so this equals 3 stone, 11 pounds.

thanks silver, obvious now that I look at it, only issues is that the weights when shown this way do not account for those 'in-between' weights such as 53.5kg, can work around that i guess

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
