Backing to win a certain amount

Postby Fawltyrat » Fri Aug 13, 2010 4:08 pm

I can see in the Staking Mode I can Lay everything for either a liability
or a set amount...I would like to be able to back in the same way..i.e.if i select 100 and click each horse down the page on the blue side..it will back that horse at those odds to collect that amount. If I pick liability or payout, unlike laying it still backs for the flat stake.

Is there any way I can do this or is it something that might have to be added...

Hi Fawltyrat :)

If I have read you right this can be done quite easily in the grid interface.

What you simply need to do is tick "verify bets" then back any runners you
like (either normal or with reverse bets) and in the "Mybets" window click the
"Target" link and select "Per selection" and enter the amount you want to win.
Your Stake will magically appear filled with the correct amount.

If you are happy with the same "Target" every event then you simply have
to tick the little check box each time and it will remember your last input.
In my opinion this is potentially a very powerful feature because it also gives
the individual and overall percetage for each runner to form your own book.

Hope this all makes sense to you - any questions please ask?

Good luck - Michael :)

P.S. Can also be used with "Back all" button in "Mybets" window and then
simply hit the red cross to close the runners you do not want to cover.

Hi,

In order to do what Michael has suggested you will need the latest beta version which you can download using the following link:-

Something I often wanted to do myself but never asked?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
