Laying at SP

Postby dcurley » Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:21 am

Hi,

Had some lay bets on horses left unmatched at the off last week. I had ticked the SP box hoping that these unmatched bets would be matched at the SP price at the off but they all seemed to have been cancelled at the off. Am I doing something incorrect?

Thanks

If it was the SP box in betting options at the top of the screen then this only applies to bets you place after ticking this option. If you want to change an existing bet to a keep SP bet then you need to tick the "SP" column in the bets manager at the bottom of the screen. This column also serves as confirmation that the bet is a keep bet.

Here is a video showing me changing the status of two back bets to keep SP bets after they had been placed.

laying at SP

Thanks for the replies. I can now get the Betfair SP on back bets but not on lay bets. Is it possible to place a lay bet and get it to take the Betfair SP at the off if it is not matched? Or am I doing something incorrect?

The minimum liability accepted by Betfair for SP bets is £10. Is your liability less than this?

Hi,

I have tried more than £10 and it still has not been matched.

Had a £15 back and lay bet in the same race. Back bet was accepted and lay bet was not. Liability would have been more than £10

Strange. I'm sure this isn't a problem with BA. Was the SP column definitely ticked before the race went in play? You say it would have been more than £10 liability at SP, but was it more than £10 when you actually placed it? It will not convert the bet to SP if the original bet was less than £10 liability. For example if you lay £10 at 1.5 it will not get matched at SP if the SP was 3.0 because the original liability was £5. In this example you would need to lay £20 at 1.5

Thanks for the response.

I definitely think it is a betfair issue and not a BA issue. I tried to place the bets directly on the Betfair site and again they were not matched and are included as lapsed bets in my betting history.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
