No Sound

Postby HiArt99 » Tue Aug 24, 2010 4:53 pm

I have just bought a brand-new windows 7 64-bit dell pc.

Well cool but....

Ba wont play sounds. When I go to the preview bit in preferences, all that happens is the "not responding" message comes up and i get the circular version of the hourglass, No errors and the application does not crash, but most importantly no sound.

I am patched to the hilt and all the latest patches for windows and .net have been applied.

Any ideas as to what i can try next?

Thanks

Art.

Never heard this being a problem before. I will investigate.

Hi houchy,

it is entirely possible that you need to get your "Master volume" control
window open and make sure that the slider for wave file volume is high
or it could even be muted? Should be available by double clicking the little
loudspeaker icon in the quick launch area bottom right?

Just an idea - Michael :)

I've tested it on a Windows 7 64bit PC and it works so can see no reason why it shouldn't work on yours. Have you established that the WAV file actually plays on your PC in Windows Media player for example?

You could try...

Right click on My computer and go to "Manage" from the left chose "device manager" on the right chose "sound, video, and game controllers" when it drops down, double click on your sounds card. From there chose the driver tab. Click Uninstall. After Uninstalling the Driver restart the computer. Then follow the same steps to get back to your Driver page, and then chose the "Update Driver" and then let Windows Automatically search for the best driver on the internet. After you install the driver, a restart may be required.

Thnak all.

Been working with Dell tech support and re-installed .net framework, no difference, DirectX no difference, audio drivers (from dell support website) no difference. Finally I went to the audio driver manufacturer site and downloaded the latest audio driver and WOO HOO, it works.

Had to be a corrupt or missing driver somewhere. Couldn't figure out what steps to try though!

Many thanks for the help

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
