Here is an explanation from Timeform:

A hyphen indicates the latest change of season, a slash indicates two (or more) seasons ago. The Flat season runs over the calendar year (so a horse racing on January 1st that had raced on December 31st should still carry a hypen after its latest form figure). The jumps season ends (usually) on the last Saturday in April with the bet365 Gold Cup day at Sandown. The new jumps season starts the following day. This is because, historically, there used to be a 6-week break in the season in June and July and when jumps racing became an all-year-round programme a high profile ‘end of season’ event was chosen to mark the final day.

I think they all end in "NHF" in cell A1.

Not necessarily. Races are split into flat and jumps. Each has its own form code. So a horse that has been doing several jumps races that is switched to its first flat race (or vice versa), will have a blank form but I presume number of days since last run will have a value.

I wanted to write
when form is blank & days since last run = 0

for example today the following are first time runners (there would be some mistakes a few times i guess)

Ham 20th Sep - 14:10 6f Mdn Stks
Present Danger
Crabbies Gold
Meniscus

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
