LAY-SP working?

Postby alrodopial » Sun Nov 14, 2010 6:04 pm

Hi Garry,

I tried the LAY-SP trigger today but I had problems.
I placed lay bets at -1 ticks from the current lay odds few secs before the off (liability=10) so I did't get matched at the drifters but also those bets did't get matched at the sp price.
My BF account has them as lapsed bets (6 bets) and I was in front of the pc in one case and I saw that the bet was totally unmatched and when the race went in play it was cancelled.
I don't know if there was a single bet placed at sp because my BF account doesn't have any bets placed at sp.
I also tried the LAY-IP and was fine - I saw one unmatched bet getting matched in play.
What info do you want from me to check the situation?

I can only suggest that your liability at the off was less than £10. Only Betfair can confirm this. It's the same as if you placed the bet using Betfair's website and specified SP keep bet.

You should contact Betfair to confirm why your bet wasn't matched.

I don't think it was liability issue.

All bets had liability little more than 10e.
Stake:0.17
lay odds: 60
liability : 10.2

Stake:3.28
lay odds: 3.05
liability : 10.004

etc

You should contact Betfair because we do not have access to your account and cannot advise why a bet has not been matched. BA has nothing to do with the matching process, it's the same as if you placed the bet using the website.

The LAY-SP trigger works fine I think the problem is the way you're assuming your liability.

The bet need to be a minimum liability of at least £10, if you're laying in euros it needs to be at least equivalent to £10. I've no idea of the current exchange rate but your bets are well under the minimum.

You also need to remember that a stake of £3.28 at 3.05 won't give you a liability of £10.004 it'd only be an exposure of £6.724 ( £3.28 * (3.05-1) )

Back to school I'm afraid ...

Are you sure about the pound/euro limit?

Afraid not ,

What is the minimum stake for an SP bet?

The minimum stake for a back bet at BSP is £2 or the local currency equivalent as per normal. The minimum liability is £10 or the local currency equivalent.

http://www.betfair.com/help/Help.SP.Betting/

The Aus faq specify the minimum as $30, you'd have to check exchange rates i guess and add a little extra just to be on the safe side

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
