Can not get the price info for horses after the race.

Postby Nutter Punter » Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:29 pm

Is anyone else having a problem with clicking on the horses name after a race to see all the recorded betfair trades?

Before the end of the race the usual pop up window works fine displaying trades and graph but as soon as the race finishes the pop up has no info.

I have to go to the betfair interface to see the info.

Anyone else?

ver 1.1.0.66x37

You don't have to go to the Betfair interface.

1. Right click on the Betfair chart and select "Preferences" from the popup menu.

2. Tick "Show selection drop down list".

3. At the end of the race an extra button appears to the right of the "Notes" button named "Chart from BF website". Click this button to see the info.

I presume you recently upgraded to the latest Beta version and you were probably using this button before you upgraded. The only difference is that it is not visible by default in this version.

I had to provide a separate button because the information is not available from the API after the race. The information has to be "scraped" from the website.

As always an immediate and helpful response.

Cheers

PS that is not me that posted on the Betfair forum but it is a coincidence.

It is likely to be the problem. It uses an embedded IE browser to display this information.

Have you tried changing the security settings in IE?

1. Select Internet Options from the tools menu.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Select "Internet" zone if not already selected.
4. If the "Default level" button is not disabled then it means you have custom settings for the Internet zone. Click the default level button to restore the default settings.

What happens if you open the following in IE. Does it display any messages before displaying the page?

http://uk.site.sports.betfair.com/betti ... rrency=GBP

It must be blocked in some way. Try adding uk.site.sports.betfair.com to the trusted sites.

1. Selection Internet Options from tools menu in IE.
2. Select security tab.
3. Under "Select a zone to view ..." select "Trusted Sites" and click the sites button.
4. Untick "Require server verification", Enter http://uk.site.sports.betfair.com and click the add button.
5. Click the close button then the OK button.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
