Balance Refresh Rate ?
What exactly is this doing?

I am testing a new vps server the last and my problem is even now i am getting faster bet placement (av. pre-race 180ms - international user  ) and Internet speed is much faster than before, what i actual see in screen seems slower....?

In running I have set up 3 bots with refresh rate set at 0.4
and I get actual refresh in BA interface between 700-3500 ! (ms between 25 !!)

"what i actual see in screen seems slower....? "

I'd imagine that's down to the way the VPS screen data is displayed on your home PC, it'll always seem slower because the pc isn't physically in front of you and that screen shot needs to be sent to your home pc so it'll appear to lag although any automated system should actually be running faster

Balance refresh just requests the balance in a background request at the interval you specified. Have you tried it without the auto balance refresh? Can you say for sure it is making it slower?

Gary
it is set to 0 by default...
Haven't noticed it until today

Have you got any other ideas why i am getting so many spikes in the refresh
rates?

sometimes the actual refresh rate in play reaches 7000 when it is refresh rate set 0.4

Have you got another version without this option to test it tomorrow?

When it's set to zero it has absolutely no effect, it is not auto refreshing so it cannot possibly be the cause of the problem. It sounds like it could be your vps connection to the internet or possibly Betfair's Malta server playing up. You should try the official release to rule out the Beta version as being the problem. You can download it Here

Does anybody know how a trial period with paypal can be canceled

I am trying a vps service and you are paying for a month but there is a 15 days trial. I can cancel it through paypal at 14th day

Does that mean that i can cancel it "by my own" or i have to prove the vps provider that there something wrong with the internet service they provide in order to accept the cancelation?

I don't know for sure yet that is the provider fault, just asking because i don't use paypal often...

thanks

Gary
just notice the following..

I have 4 tabs open all set at 0.4 refresh rate in an in play football match
At that time actual refresh time was between 400 - 420 which is right

I connected each tab on a different excel book-sheet with refresh rate at 0.4 again
The actual refresh rate change between 850-1200

I reinstall excel but no changes

Probably here is the problem?

Any ideas?

That's strange. Was this when using the Beta version or the official version? I might have to do remote assistance so I can see this for myself.

I think you recently reformatted your server so you had a fresh install of BA. Did you remember to increase the throttle rate from the default of 10 in preferences? If you are not using any other API programs or the website at the same time you can increase it to 20.

I am guessing that before you linked the markets to Excel there were no bets placed. As soon as the first bet is placed the bets refresh changes from once every 10 seconds to your refresh rate of 0.4. This means each market requires 2 updates every 0.4 seconds. It's not possible to update this frequently when the throttle limit is 10. If this is the case then it's not so strange.

Gary
Probably you are right

I can't remember if i had change throttle rate in my previous set up
but now i did it seems to working better. Haven't placed a bet yet

Clarify please
If i have 2 instances of BA opened

1. throttle rate = 3 ( i don't mind if it is very slow)
2. throttle rate = 17

Will i be ok?

* in general that is the case if with 3 instances the total throttle rate sums to 20 it is ok?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
