IP question

Postby alrodopial » Mon Dec 27, 2010 10:37 pm

Hi everyone,
A simple question:

I place a bet IP in a football match where there is a 5sec delay for the bet to be matched and before the 5 sec I want to cancel it.
So
1. Does BA updates in these period ? -in this period the conditions of my bet may not be met so I want to cancel the bet -.
For this to be happen BA must be updating, does it?
2. If it does, the "CANCEL" trigger will be fired at once?

Thanks

If you could cancel a bet before the delay then it would defeat the purpose of the delay therefore Betfair do not provide a way to do this. They prevent you cancelling the bet by not providing the bet reference until after the delay. You cannot cancel a bet without a reference.

Logical.
What will happen if:
I place a bet in play, the bet is unmatched after the delay (5 or 1 sec) and then I place a cancel trigger.
Will this trigger be executed after the delay (another 1 or 5 sec) or will it be at once?

At once. Betfair do not impose a delay on cancelling bets.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
