ATR pictures by betfair/horses inrunning

Postby dikenia » Tue Jan 04, 2011 9:35 pm

Hi folks,

since betfair introduced their live pics in flash format a while ago i`ve noticed that the time lag between betfair suspending markets and the horses leaving the stalls is virtually zero, the same when the first horse crosses the finishing line...do people using SIS at an exchange shop still have that massive time advantage? or are the betfair live pics almost the same as SIS has?

Hi dikenia,

I noticed the same as you did.
I record all the times of going in play and also the times the races are suspended in my spreadsheet.
I checked all these times with ATR and I found out that sometimes the time in play is some seconds late. The racing times I recorded are the same.
So the conclusion can be that the live pictures of Betfair are more or less real live.

ATR pictures by betfair/horses inrunning

thank you....so does that then mean, that there is no real need to go to an exchange shop, cause you can virtually get the same live pictures at home on your PC (for RUK pics u can use Racing Post or some bookmakers)? And why is it then that inrunning liquidity keeps on declining as so many here say, when we have almost"live" pictures?

the pictures from betfair are still about 3 seconds behind live. i watch channel 4 analogue on saturdays and have seen the difference to be about 3.5 seconds.

But then, what are the pictures betfair is using to suspend the markets? Don`t they use SIS pictures? does that mean that their (betfair`s and SIS) pictures are 3 seconds behind live and when they suspend the markets the race has been over for bout 3 seconds? and are the pictures betfair is using to suspend the markets behind those pictures of the exchange shops? Any ideas??

but when they have someone at the course and the markets usually suspend at the same time as the first horse passes the finishing line as stated above (on betfair live video that is), why are the pictures not live then? Or how can it then be that they are 3 seconds behind live?

i have watched channel 4 analogue, the suspend sign appears about 0.5 second after the stalls open, and it can appear upto 2 seconds after the winning line.
betfair live video is not live. its about 3 seconds behind.

there are many close finishes in horse racing, where you would only be able to tell who has won the race when the horses nose is on the line, yet many of these have traded at 1.01 on the winner and the second doesn't break 1.5 .

Betfairs suspend policy is dubious at best. If they really suspended 'live' it would put everyone off when they realised just how far they are behind the track players.

Paddy Power internet pics are supposed to be equal to SIS in speed but you are still 3 secs behind the track players. So if you cant afford SIS have a small bet on PP and use their pics.

At least 3 secs, I would say. I attend a number of greyhound tracks when the meeting is being shown on SIS and they have SIS on in the betting shop and in the judges box, so you can see both the race live and via SIS at the same time. The dogs are actually at the first bend before the traps open on the SIS pictures - this would more more like 4-5 seconds.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
