Bet time and Transaction Log time

Postby keesbart » Fri Jan 21, 2011 7:58 pm

Hi,
I noticed a big difference in the bet time in the spreadsheet and the time in the transaction log.
The bet time in the spreadsheet is 19:38:21.
The time in the transaction log is 19:38:36, ca. 15 seconds later, which is also mentioned in the transaction log in the Response column.
I have not seen this before.
Is there somebody who can explain this?

The bet time column in Excel is populated at the time the bet is requested. I presume you placed a below minimum stake bet on an in play market with an in play delay of 5 seconds. The bet would have taken 15 seconds to place because it requires three transactions to place. The transaction log displays the time Betfair actually finished processing the bet, after the delay.

It's the first time anyone has reported this as being a problem. Is it causing a problem?

Thanks Gary for your reply.

The back stake of the bet was Euro 35,00.
I have a copy of the spreadsheet (screenshot) and a screenshot of the transaction log.
If you wish I can send them to you.

You can send them to admin@gruss-software.co.uk and I will check if they look unusual.

I have received the screenshots thank you.

There isn’t anything unusual. The response time on the transaction log shows 14828 ms which is 15 seconds. It’s as I said previously except it’s not a below minimum stake bet and that is a very long response time from Betfair for one transaction. You have probably noticed they have been having server problems the last few days which probably explains the long response time. It’s not a Betting Assistant fault.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
