premium charge

Postby N Counter » Sun Feb 06, 2011 12:58 pm

I am hoping that some one might be able to give me some inspiration. Since January of last year I have been clobbered with this premium charge. They have very kindly taken over £4,000 from me to date. At first I thought I could get around it by find neutral arbs between betfair markets to creat more commision, but soon found this to be far more difficult than I expected because of having to allow for the commision on which ever bet should win. I would be so grateful to anyone who can suggest two markets that might work well in this way. I'm not looking to make any profit, just creat commision.

Thanks.

I generate neutral turnover by arbing with bookmakers. I try to look for arbs where the bookie is more likely to win than Betfair. There are plenty each day but they take a lot of effort and its a pain in the neck. Knowing where to look is the key :) You'll have to work that one out :)

The premium charge comes into effect when your win to lose ratio excedes a certain level where by betfair say that the combiination of commision charged and implied commision from losses does not outweigh the liquidity you use up (although I would question the maths behind this arguement). They say that if commision plus implied commision do not come to 20% of your profits they will impose a charge equal to the deficit.

That's why if you have to pay the premium charge non profit making arbs effectively reduce the amount you are charged.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
