modifying lay fav sample sheet

Postby craigy » Mon Feb 28, 2011 11:08 am

Hi All
Can anyone suggest a way I can modify the lay fav sample sheet so my lay bet stays at the front of the line until matched instead of matching the best price available when it triggers. Once someone comes in with a better price I want cancel and jump back to the front of the line. I wish to do this as many times as it takes to get matched.(I am working with low liquidity markets)
Thanks for any help

I think I may need to know the simplest way to use the UPDATE tigger.
Just not sure how to put it into a formula.

Here is an example spreadsheet that uses UPDATE to keep at the front of the queue.

Put "1" in the enabled column to activate chasing and the maximum odds you will lay up to in the max odds column.

While testing this I noticed a potential pitfall with this method. For example if your stake is £2. The problem is when there is money below £2 in the queue. If say £1 is at the front of the queue BA won't display it. UPDATE puts you at the front of the queue so it's now £3 at the front. UPDATE will again put you at the front. Because only £1 is at the next best odds it won't be displayed so UPDATE will trigger again to reduce your offer. Your offer will join the £1 again so it will trigger another UPDATE to put you at the front. It can get stuck in this cycle. This could cause a large number of transactions so you may want to modify this example for your needs. It should however give you an idea of how UPDATE can be used.

A question for Gary or anyone who understands excel better than me.
If I want use this sheet for a back instead of a lay what do I do about changing the maximum odds col for a minimum odds col.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
