Postby JS » Sat Mar 04, 2006 12:42 am

First, congratulations to Gary for his soft, is really good.

Now, my help request. I try to use excel function on BA, with no success. Nothing happens when I request log prices or individual prices, any idea ? do I have to set up anything ? Thanks in advance

Lets start with the basics.

You open the Betting Assistant
Select a market
open excel
On BA goto excel in the menu and make your selections.

The results should appear in the sheet that you just specified in the chosen workbook

GeorgeUK, thanks by your answer,

You open the Betting Assistant , Done, Works :)
Select a market Done, Works :)
open excel Done, Works :)
On BA goto excel in the menu and make your selections. Done, Works :)

The results should appear in the sheet that you just specified in the chosen workbook, Done, Doesn't Work, Nothing Happens on the WorkSheet, :(
here is where I've got the problem. Do I have to setup any parameter in Excel ?

The only time i have had this problem of the data not appearing is when there were 2 instances of excel open on the system.

Close down excel completely, then do CTRL+ALT+DEL and look at the processes running.
If EXCEL.EXE is still listed there, select it and end task.

Then you can open excel again and try to set it up again.
You should not need to do anything in excel for race data to appear. For me it has only not worked when there is a "ghost" of excel running in the background.

What version of excel are you using? (need to make sure it is excel and not openoffice or just a viewer)

I've updated the program to record an error log which may show me what the problem is (version 0.99b). You can try using the Excel function and then check the file named 'error_log.txt' which will be located in the main program folder (usually c:\Program Files\Betfair Trader). If the file contains messages then send it to me.

Some more input. When I start the export (excel ba function), excel begins to have activity (looking at windows system manager) around 1 to 3%, unfortunately nothing appears on the sheet. I think that connection between BA and Excel works but it's more in excel where there's a problem

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
