"Freeze" the odds before In Play

Postby Micki » Thu May 05, 2011 9:17 pm

Hi Gary (or maybe somebody else can Help).

Long ago I downloaded a spread sheet through The Betting School, where you were the author. The sheet was used for backing horses if drifting/steaming compared to the price x minutes before the start.

I would like to use the cells in question for multiple markets for soccer backing Over 1.5 in Play. But only if the price is within a certain range before the match, Say three minutes before.

I understand most of the formular and tried to convert it:
=IF($AE5="","",getODDSTIME09($A$1,$E$2,$F$2,$O5,$P5,$AM$3))
(Sorry if the commas should be semicolonS etc due to another language I use)
But didn't succeed. F2 is probably not used in Over 1.5 and maybe another cell should be used in order to submit the correct information when submitting the request for the odds.

I would also very much like The Amount Matched to be "frozen" in order to secure the Odds are ok, which they might not be if the liquidity is low. I already have created the cells which evaluate this information, but would like to have both the odds and amount matched updated close to the off. Now I'm copying and pasting 10-12 times daily in order to get fresh odds and turnover.

Forgive me if this is too much to ask for - then just tell me - but I was tempted bacause I saw you were the author of that spread sheet.

I'm a fairly good excel user but VBA is new to me. Hope I can avoid to use that.

Kind regards,

Michael

I'm sorry to say I don't remember creating this spreadsheet. What is the filename of this spreadsheet? Did Betting School accredit this spreadsheet to me?

Is this a case of 'early onset' Gary ?

Hi Gary (doris_day and alrodopial)

Thanks for your interest guys.

Don't worry Gary, I know how it is to be hit by the "early onset") and don't remember the file name either. The sheet I found in "my box of sheets that might become useful later" has been renamed.

Yes, it does say Gary Russel as being the author. Can I send the workbook to you by e-mail? When I press the e-mail button it is not possible to attach files.

Regards,

Michael

You can email it to gruss@blueyonder.co.uk

I wonder if it's one of my examples that somebody has modified which is why it has me as the author.

I've got the spreadsheet thanks.

I'm sure I didn't create this spreadsheet. It looks like somebody has taken one of my examples and modified it. The function you refer to is entirely not my code. I would not name a function in nearly all upper case, it's not my coding style. I'm sure all programmers will agree they can recognise their own coding style.

I can see what the function is doing so I will try to help as long as it doesn't take too long and you don't add more requirements!

Certainly won't ask for further requirements.
I appreciate very much you will look into it and I'm pretty sure that other members also can benefit from the knowledge of how to register odds and matched amounts before the game goes in play.

It is especially useful when you bet Multiple Markets, the sheet is started in the morning before you go to work and then BA will back or lay at certain odds(compared to the "Starting Price") according to your demands that can be included in the triggers.

Thanks a lot.

I have sent you an updated spreadsheet with a new function to record the total matched.

I don't understand what you mean when you say there is a problem when used with under 1.5 goals markets as they are the same as any other odds market so can you explain exactly what problem occurs when used with this market.

Thanks Gary. I'm very grateful. I will convert it to the Over/under market and see how it turns out.

I will let you know.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
