Small excel black out

Postby alrodopial » Mon May 09, 2011 9:26 pm

What I say below is not 100% certain - needs further checks- but here it is.

With 0.2 refreshes and logging the data at every refresh I notice a gap of around 2 secs at updating excel which happens when I submit the bet (from excel = back-f2) .After around 2 sec it starts logging again and after another 1 sec excel gets from BA the "status of my just placed bet" (matched or cancelled). In play bet with 1 sec delay.
It may be my VBA code that causes this gap?Note that at this 2 secs another sheet in the same workbook logs the data correctly (other market)
How can I check it?

Are these bets inplay/under minimum stakes?

k just noticed they're inplay, probably due to BA waiting for the bet response from betfair before continuing. If it didn't wait to get the response with betid/matched status etc it could fire off allsorts of duplicate bets etc

They are above minimum stake.
So no data are being sent to excel when a bet is pending?

Now that I'm thinking it again if there is "pending" at the bet reff column there is no need for further bets/ duplicate etc.
Lets wait Garry for his answer.

BA does not write data to Excel while a bet is pending. Sorry, this has always been the case.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
