mak, you're not the only one. There is has been a sudden and significant decline in in-running liquidity over the past couple of weeks. I've also noticed a rise in the in-running liquidty in Betdaq and I'm wondering if the two facts are related. Betfair have had recent technical issues and combined with high charges, I think some people are moving away. Even this week at York, my view is that the liquidity is poor. Don't forget there has also been a significant fall in the number of runners in each race which brings its own effect too.

yes i think you are spot on. in running liquidity sometimes is less. regrading betdaq i wouldn't mind give it a try again, i did last month but my bots in order to perform right they need -if i can describe it right - "higher activity" from other players which was not the case...i could watch odss changing of course not as rapidly as at bf, but i couldn't say there was much bet matching...

their api also i think is very basic, i would need to give much more information, for example last price matched etc

Do you have actual figures of matched IR volumes to show there's a real decline? I image the x matching is taking a lot of liquidity out of the market at source so volumes on screen my appear less but the figures matched in running may not actually be lower than before.

Yes, you're probably right about the cross matching which does complicate things a bit but there's been a decline even since CM came into play, particularly the last couple of weeks . I must admit that I don't keep a spreadsheet of the matched data but just look after each race and make a mental note. However, I'll start to log the data and compare it to the data I've got from a while back, so I can give you actual numbers rather than just theories !!

Of course I should also add that the fall in the numbers of runners in each race will also have a significant effect on the total matched, so pure numbers dont tell the whole story.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
