Bet Placement

Postby mak » Fri May 27, 2011 5:51 pm

The last few days I can see through transactions log and "live" that sometimes there is a big difference for a bet to be placed...eg usually for a i/r bet i get 1300-1400 ms...the problem is that for the last week i am getting something like 1450-1650 ms and my bots are straggling

probably is due to my vps provider (fasthosts) but i don't know how to address this problem to them, i am not that good to explain...i can't "speak" to them with technical terms and English is not my native language also

can someone point me out how to address this problem, and how i can prove it without telling them about BA, because i got an answer that it is probably my software problem already...

also, does anyone have a decent vps provider to suggest in Ireland?

thanks
mak

First of all you should check the response times you get for price refreshes. What do are you getting? Because you are an international user the bet request is sent from UK Betfair to Malta after it reaches the UK so if it looks like the delay is there then it's nothing to do with your ISP. The price refresh does not go to Malta so it's a better indicator of the response times you are getting from Betfair.

I have become "master" to the response times lately :)
Response times are fine.I have always open the chart of res time and watching..

I know about the international users, but i can't explain why there is so much difference lately

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
