Tick Offsetting without being asked to!

Postby orbitboy » Wed Jun 15, 2011 9:42 pm

OK,

This is weird.

Really weird.

After looking through the manual I can find no way of greening up automatically at specific odds, as opposed to a number of ticks.

In other words, I might have a load of bets go in at different prices, but they ALL get a greened (auto levelled) stake stuck in @ 3.0 if they get matched.

However, gruss has started randomly sticking in greened stakes at 2.3!!

The "Tick Offset" is set to "0", and "auto level" is un-ticked.

It even works with partially matched back stakes, which is utterly perfect for what I want to do. :o

The only thing is, I can see nowhere that I have asked for this to be done!!
It also displays the small blue block, indicating whats its up to.

The only other thing I can offer is that it started happening after I experimented with the tick offset but then put it back to 0 and blank.

Is there possibly some config file with 2.3 stuck in it somewhere?
Should I be able to do this officially?

I'm sure that it doesn't place tick offset bets without being asked to. You cannot change tick offset settings on a bet that's already been placed. Could this be the problem? Are you changing it zero after placing a bet expecting this to remove the tick offset from a bet already placed?

No sir, just fired up today and doing exactly the same, and yes, tick offset =0 and Auto level unchecked.

If it helps, I always reverse the book when betting

I have no idea why it's doing that. Try upgrading to the Beta version. It will become the official version soon anyway. The tick offset code is also completely changed in this version and has better diagnostic logging. See http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/v ... php?t=6250 for download.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
