Will Betting Assistant provide a Test/Training Mode?

Postby alessandrus4 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:46 pm

Hi! I think a Test Mode should be amazingly important.. until now I didn't see it on the software.. could it be a next function? I hope :)

Sorry we don't have any plans. It's better to test with small stakes in my opinion.

I remember exactly same answer from other software providers but look what happened :)

Latest add on to Bet Devil is training mode.
So I would like to ask again....any plans to include it in near future ?

Sorry. We are aware that other vendors have introduced a training mode recently, but this has not changed our plans.

A "training mode" will only help in teaching you the "mechanics" of trading; nothing like the reality of using real money. Suddenly, the large bets you have been playing around with in "training mode" don't get matched in the real world.

Far, better off using small stakes as Gary stated.

There is really no need to tell me about what is better or worse...believe me.

I saw exactly same answers from The Geek and Peter W but as I said....look and name trading software with no training mode included...please

I am serious....name one which is worth of naming LOL

It's about what people are asking for .........maybe some of newbies trying to make a working bot don't like an idea of "paying" £2 (Betfairs min stake) every time they want to see if the bot is placing bets on the market...

end of discussion for me....it was just another simple question and I got an answer now.....

thanks

It has not changed our plans for the short time. We have other things to implement which I think add more value. We do not want to change our plans as a knee jerk reaction to what other vendors are doing. In the longer term I can see that we will probably have to implement this. We do give the customer what they want quite frequently unfortunately it's not possible to do this for every customer every day.

If you really need training mode just learn some excel, you can set everything up but instead of getting it to trigger you just log the bet, if you have access to a results service you could even have it record the results against your selection.

As mentioned training mode can give you false results as you never know what will get matched, even using small stakes like 10c can be a danger because it might match but a similar bet at $100 might not.

Training modes are absolutly useless imo,

mainly because they can not replicate the real betfair market accurately,
you will never know for example if your bets placed in training mode would have been matched or not in the real world.
This can makes a huge difference to your P&L for a start.
Also people's mentality changes drastically when they are using real money as opposed to fake money in a trading mode.

The best way to learn is to just use small stakes and then build up.

relying on a trading mode to learn is not the way forward imo it will just give alot of people false hope, as it far far easier to profit from than in the real world.

I do see why some newcomers to trading think it is a good idea though,

I guess the other trading software are providing it for that reason,
but in reality as has been said it's as useful as a chocolate fireguard imo.

I think newcomers to trading on betfair think that with a traning mode they can perfect their traiding technique , so that they'll be able to trade with real money and never lose a trade ! it's not going to happen.
If you want to trade on betfair you will lose some trades and you will lose some money, it doesn't matter how good you are.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
