BA Has Stopped working !

Postby Arkle » Tue Jun 21, 2011 2:56 pm

Hi Gary,

I had to do a system recovery of Windows 7 this morning.

When it came back I have not been able to run BA. All I get is message "Betting Assistant Has Stopped working". I get this on all versions of BA(Updater , Launcher and BA.exe). I've tried the beta versions and the current live version - all get the same error version.

Any ideas?

What version of Windows do you have? If it's XP or 2000 then you could try re-installing the .Net Framework using the link below.

The Framework is built into the OS in Windows 7 so you don't have the option of installing it. This is not a BA fault though, something is wrong with your Windows. I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest if you have already done a restore. You might have to do a clean install of Windows.

Just had a thought. It might be worth checking in add/remove programs if there are any later Frameworks installed. If there are then make a note of them and uninstall them. See if BA then works. If it does then you can re-install the later frameworks. They might be corrupt and causing a problem.

Hi Gary, That's what I was thinking, I was hoping there might be another solution. I also think it's .NET. The recovery was somewhere near the patches last week, which had a upgrade of .NET.

Thanks

Just had the same problem after a system restore on XP. Uninstalling .net framework and reinstalling from the link above before reinstalling BA worked perfectly. Thanks Gary.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
