Need FAQ answer on where the error reporting is please.

Postby Happy Harry » Fri Jun 24, 2011 6:46 am

Morning Garry

would you mind adding a section [or link] in the FAQ area on the error recording. BA and BetFair are far from happy this morning with Australian Markets not being able to be loaded for an extended time and then so far Betting Assistant Hanging so badly that it can not be shut down even from Task Manager on two occassions. On the second one because I screen shotted it the Top Line simply says "not responding".

Anyway, I know I saw a post for how to turn on error logging but cant seem to find it.

Thanks

HH

Hi HH

I've also had similar problems with the AUS markets and BA freezing.

See the post below, the final message from Gary is that he was investigating the issue.

Cheers

PS It seems this morning the Account balances are not displaying correctly?

It seems the problems in the early hours had also frozen the link from BA to my Excel spreadsheets, by shutting down BA & Excel and then restarting it all seems to be working OK again now.

It looks like the whole site had problems in the early hours so it wasn't BA that caused the problem. I am still looking into the hanging issue when the server has problems.

Thanks Gary

If it's any help a log file was created called Thread_Exception.txt date stamped 24/06/2011 02:35 which seems the time the problems with the API etc started happening. The file contained the following...

System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
at System.Threading.Thread.StartInternal(IPrincipal principal, StackCrawlMark& stackMark)
at System.Threading.Thread.Start()
at Betting_Assistant.BetfairBalance.updateBalance()
at Betting_Assistant.Main.autoRefreshBalanceTimer_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Yes, that could be quite significant thank you. It looks like it might trigger a memory leak.

Garry

would you mind adding the FAQ to enable Error Logging please as once again today despite things being exceptionally stable yesterday - Saturday in Australia which should be the most difficult day - today - Sunday - Betting Assistant Fell over in the middle of the afternoon. No errors, no freeze, simply shut up shop and stopped working.

If the FAQ thread could incorporate how to turn on error tracking that would be much appreciated as I really don't like coming back to find that BA has fallen over, missed some bets and no idea why.

Thanks

HH

I also recommend you try the Beta version which will replace your version in the near future. It might be that you don't have this problem with the Beta version. See http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=9

at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

This problem will be fixed in the next release. It is caused by the balance auto refresh. The calls stack up instead of being discarded when the requests start failing due to the API being down.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
