Bets placed when shouldn't be

Postby Des911 » Fri Jul 15, 2011 2:54 pm

I'm using a spreadsheet that places a back bet a few seconds before the race off time which when matched then places a lay bet and keeps the lay in running. My back bet odds minimum is set to 2.0 but I find if this is not matched (say the horse is 1.3) it then keeps the back bet in running which then can get matched in running probably because the horse is not going to win.

Is there a way I can cancel the back bet if it's not matched at the off but, if it is matched, keep the lay bet in running?

Are you using the -Tn modifier to place the back bet?

Err sorry Gary I don't understand. It's actually a sheet you modified for me to get it working a year or so ago and I've only just noticed this problem.

I'm afraid I can't answer without knowing exactly what the spreadsheet currently does. If you email it to admin@gruss-software.co.uk I will have a look.

I know when Aus races first started in-play betting i was getting a similar problem because any bets triggered after the start would place the bet in play, i have to set up a switch to turn in play betting off or on could be a similar problem, you might have to set up a condition that if the bet is not matched it turns off triggers.

I got your spreadsheet and have just sent a reply. It was simply a case of using -IPC instead of -IP so that the back bet is not placed as a keep bet.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
