excel based trading platform

Postby andrej » Thu Jul 14, 2011 10:00 pm

Hi everybody, I was going to build an excel sheet for technical analysis of the betfair prices with graphs (something similar like quantsports-ninjatrader) but as I was adding indicators I came to a big problem. It takes excel too long to do the calculations and it is useless as it takes now more than 3 secs to calculate everything and I still want to add some more indicators. What I am looking for now is some trading platform that can read live data from excel and do the charts.

does anybody know if such thing exists? I am googling around for more than 3 days now and could not find anything suitable.

Doesn't Quantsports work anymore ? I haven't used it for a while but when it was going, it worked well.

The jury is still out however regarding the viability of TA with Betfair data. You may find its a blessing in disguise that you can't get Excel to work as you want. Unless of course you have an unknown (magic) indicator :)

If I were you I'd go onto Rentacoder and get what you want built. Its much cheaper than you think, particularly as there are numerous Indian and Russian coders that work for peanuts (they may nick your ideas but they are cheap).

Hi, I will probably try to find someone to to this for me. quantsports works just fine but the problem is they only support ninjatrader 6.5 ant that one does not work under win7 sp1 wich I have installed on my work comuter.

I was playing around with forex and the similarity between forex and betfair prices is huge. In fact it even seems that befair behaves even more predictable than fx (trends are bigger and easyer to spot with the correct set of indicators (I use 4 EMA's, RSI, STOCH RSI and less often MACD))
It would be realy nice to have ninjatrader or metatrader platform configured to read the data from excel. Maybe I will learn another programing language to do this (I started with VBA just because of gruss betting assistant).

In case I get lucky and find something I will post it here if somebody wants to give it a try.

best regards

Shame NT doesn't work on your PC.

However, I can tell you categorically that TA doesn't work for FX in any way shape or form, so don't hold your breath for it to work with BF.

Best of luck anyway.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
