Availablity of PLACE markets

Postby canuk » Tue Jul 12, 2011 1:14 am

Can you advise me on the availability of Horse & Greyhound "PLACE Markets". I see the "Quick Picks" menu lists them, and the ones I wanted are alive on the Betfair site. I notice they are NOT listed in the general market choices. Is there an option I have disabled or are they not offered in the latest version.

Thank you
Bob

Have you ticked "Exclude horse racing place markets" in quick pick preferences? There is a bug which causes greyhound place markets to also be excluded.

Thank You for your prompt reply... You must stay up late on your side of the Atlantic pond.

Yes I had played with that setting with NO effect. Funny thing is before I read your reply the PLACE markets were everywhere, after a restart of the program. I had not tried a program restart after changing the option, as I had an excel sheet running at the time.

An undesirable effect of enabling the “horse”place markets in the "Quick Picks" options is it also blended the PLACE markets with the WIN markets in the general market menu, rather than a separate category, for horses & greyhounds.

I fully understand the cascading effects of minor changes, and look forward to the continuing evolution, of your great tool. Keep up the great work.

Thank you again

Would it be possible to have this re-introduced - so I can avoid the greyhound
place markets not loaded as it was before please? I mean within the market tree. Thanks.

Ttfn - Michael

P.S. Or have I missed a trick somewhere?

I will be adding a separate option for greyhounds shortly.

I usually only bet in WIN markets, so the option to avoid loading PLACE markets is extremely useful and time saving.

But on the odd occasions I may do some testing for PLACE markets only, so in order to do this I have to manually delete the WIN markets.

I don’t know if the following is feasible, but in order to cover all eventualities the following options in Preferences should meet most user requirements….

Tick boxes for….

Exclude Horse Racing WIN markets
Exclude Horse Racing PLACE markets
Exclude Greyhound Racing WIN markets
Exclude Greyhound Racing PLACE markets

If the user leaves all unchecked (default setting perhaps) then all markets would be loaded in the QuickPickList, or there is the option to customise both WIN and PLACE markets to the user preference.

Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
