Making a place bet based on win prices

Postby Ian1506 » Mon Aug 01, 2011 1:12 pm

Hi folks.
I would like to make a place bet based on wether a particular runners win odds just before the off are within a certain range. Is there a way to show both the win and place prices on the one excel sheet or do I need to open up two tabs in BA and then two excel sheets.
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Cheers Ian (Newbie)

Two tabs with two Excel sheets is the way to do it. Use vlookup to get the odds from the place market onto the win market sheet. For example =VLOOKUP(A5,Sheet1!A5:M50,6,FALSE) to get the back odds. It's important you lookup by name because it's not guaranteed they will appear in the same order on both markets.

Thanks Gary. I'll have a play with this during the day.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
