Setting a max liability per runner in excel

Postby andak fedal » Thu Aug 04, 2011 10:03 pm

Evening all! I am trying to set a max liability on each horse so that I can prevent some of the huge liabilities I'm racking up!

I have got as far as this to make sure the next liability of the next bet + the existing liability isn't greater than £20 but it still goes above this figure. I think it's because I'm not including unmatched bets. Could anyone help me with calculating this per runner and adding this to my existing formula which is...

=IF((X5-((R5-1)*S5))>=-20,"LAY","")

Thanks!

Thanks but it's more complicated than this...

I need to be able to calculate the total liability I currently have in unmatched bets (could bemroe than 1) and add that to the proposed bet I might be making to see if it goes over my limit per horse.

I can calculate the proposed liability but don't know how to go about working out the total in unmatched bets?

You'll need to be using the MyBets sheet so you can aggregate any total liability of unmatched bets on each selection

I think garys greenup spreadsheet currently displays the stakes etc for matched bets shouldn't be too hard to tweak it to display unmatched bets

Thanks Captain, I'll start with this and have a go at tweaking then.

Cheers

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
