Offset lost prematurely if CANCEL used in Excel trigger

Postby pkdipper » Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:03 am

I use an Excel trigger "BACK-TL1-SL1-L-SLC2-IPC" to place a Back bet under certain conditions. The intention is to place a Back then have BA automatically close out the trade either with a 1 tick profit or attempt to exit on a stop loss (level and chasing).

A few seconds later I may wish to cancel the unmatched bet because the conditions have changed, so I insert a CANCEL in the trigger. It is possible that BA will perform all of its internal cancel processing, but simultaneously Betfair has matched the initial Back bet. In this situation BA doesn't place the offset or stop loss, even though the back has been matched. The matched bet is therefore not closed out as I wish.

Is this how BA is supposed to operate? I can only find oblique references in the forum as to what is supposed to happen in this situation.

Yes it is working as intended. I see you are using the Beta version so you can use the -KO modifier to prevent it cancelling offset processing. ie. CANCEL-KO

Many thanks Gary.

Any other nuggets in the trigger commands not yet in the help file?

I found the modifier for chasing stops (-SLC) by accident in the forum, and that is extremely useful too.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
