Yet another SP question...

Postby Fixador » Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:21 am

Sorry - but reading through the posts after a search of "BSP" - I am even more confused ( probably an age thing ! )

Trigger commands from Excel :-

(1) BACK-SP

(2) BACKSP

There's a difference - isnt there ?????

(1) Using BACK-SP : using this, say with a stake of £2 and setting the min odds to the current value of Backers requested odds ( say 5.0 ) . Then - ATO - either it will have already matched at those odds - or, it will now be in the BSP pool - and ONLY get matched if BSP is equal to, or greater than 5.0

Alternatively - if I set the min odds to 900. As this is too higher odds to get matched BTO - then the bet enters the BSP pool - AND is matched at whatever the BSP pool resolves to.

That is : if BSP resolves to 4.0 - I get matched, if the BSP pool resolves to 15.0 - I get matched.

So effectively - setting the min odds to 900 is a means of going DIRECTLY to the BSP pool.

(2) So what is BACKSP ?????

Hi,

Yes there is a difference between these 2 triggers.

BACK-SP
Using this trigger you are submitting a standard back bet requesting whatever odds you put in the odds column.
The bet will either be matched or unmatched at the requested odds.
If the bet is still unmatched when the market turns in play then the odds get converted to SP and you get matched at the SP odds.
You don't get the opportunity to specify minimum odds using this trigger.

BACKSP
With this trigger you are saying you want to submit a back bet at SP odds which are unknown until the market turns in play.
When using this trigger the odds you specify in the odds column are the minimum odds that you are prepared to accept.
Your stake must be a mnimum of 2 GBP or currency equivelant for Betfair to accept the bet

Regards,
Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
