Excel Across Multiple Markets

Postby jrarmstrong » Thu Dec 01, 2011 2:34 pm

I am looking to create a spreasheet to place bets in a number of separate and unrelated markets. So far I have been using the Place Bets sheet on single markets and was wondering how best to structure the new sheet.

I know I can link separate workbooks to BA but as I will be interrogating a load of data to find the triggers I would like to use a single sheet if that is possible?

Thanks,

James

Hi,

You can create a custom coupon view of the markets that wish to use in the first tab of Betting Assistant.

Then link the tab with the multiple market view to an Excel spreadsheet. The markets will then all be on a single sheet underneath each other.

If you plan on using the place_bets example spreadsheet in this scenario then you will probably need to modify it as the formulas used only go to row 55 and the triggers in column Q will clash with the special trigger cell Q2 which will be lower down for subsequent markets

Regards,
Mark

Cheers Mark. I had tried that but did not amend column Q. I'll give it a go.

Mark,

I tested this last night using a couple of markets. All bets were placed but a few returned PENDING in the bet ref column. They were actually placed and a ref was populated in the MyBets sheet. I use the bet ref to look up and trigger other positions so is there something I need to tweak to ensure it is populated?

Thanks,

James

They possibly got stuck at pending due to API problems yesterday. See if it happens again today.

Gary,

I have tried again a few times this week and keep get the PENDING result for some of the bets. Each bets is actually placed but the bet ref is not populated. Any ideas?

Thanks,

James

Next time it happens check the transaction log under the account menu. Check if the bet ref is there and let me know what is listed under the API response column.

Gary, I have tried again and the bet reference was populated in the transaction log but the PENDING message was returned on the sheet. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

James

I now need to see the diagnostic log. Next time it happens please send the log file named BA_Diagnostic.txt in "c:\temp\Betting Assistant Logs" folder to admin@gruss-software.co.uk. If it doesn't reveal the problem then I will need to add more info to the log until it does. Sorry, but this is the only way I can find out.

I have received your email. I can now see the problem. I think it is the way your VBA code copies the bet ref and is not a BA fault. I have replied to your email.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
