They blamed Gruss!

Postby N Counter » Sat Dec 10, 2011 8:24 pm

I'm having problems with the correct score market for the Real Madrid v Barcelona match. My bets is flicking back to when bets were un-matched and the profit collumn is changing acordingly.

I,ve been onto betfair and they assure me that there are no problems with the api. They were inclined to blame the application provider which I doubt very much as it is very similar to the api problems of only a few days ago.

Is anyone else having any problems?

Just had the same at Horse Markets
I am sure other users at BF site are going to complain right now
Definitely not BA's fault here

looks like the old problem where the api keeps returning old data intermittently. can make for some interesting fluctuations though!!!

The're still denying that it's their problem.

Does anyone know whether data from them goes directly from the api to us or via gruss in some way?

oddly enough, it only seems to be in play. I think, although stand to be corrected, that the old data returned problem happened whether or not the market is in play.

Seems ok with me too.

I wonder if they will admit it was their problem and apologise for blaming Gruss??

The data comes directly from their API to Betting Assistant. If the data is wrong then BA will display the wrong data. I am certain this was an API fault, it has happened before. It is easy to blame us. The problem is a lack of communication between the technical people and the front end customer service people. When you say you are having a problem with an API application their automatic response is always going to be that it is the application's fault.

I never had any doubt and I told them so. They said they would call me back after asking asking the technicle team for a second time because of my pesterring. They've clearly realised it was them after all and are keeping their heads down. No big surprise!

I had exactly the same problem as everyone else, but having seen it before, I knew not to panic and just waited it out, but just tried to clear down my existing bets but put nothing new in.

Exactly the same happened last Saturday evening at more or less the same time, so I suspect Betfair must be carrying out some sort of software upgrade on a Saturday evening for whatever reason.

It will be interesting to see if it happens again next Saturday, or whether they decide to do an upgrade at 3.00am which might upset their customers less ..... well we live in hope!

Same thing happened again this evening after 8pm while running on the football, really poor from Betfair, happening far too often!

Yep, with me too. Old prices even flashed up while the market was suspended. Thankfully it didn't last long this time. Maybe they believed me this time and got onto it.

The management of these markets is getting pretty shabby too.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
