Offset/Stop Loss delay?

Postby gizzard » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:42 am

Hi Gary
I'm using MyBets to identify if all Stop-Loss/Offset bets have been matched. I'm assuming that if there are no "U" entries under "Matched" then they have all been matched.

I'm hitting the odd problem and was wondering if it's possible that when an original bet (let's say a Lay) is matched, there's a small delay before the offset bet (Back) is triggered. During that small delay, the status on the Lay bet is set to "F" fully matched but the Back bet does not yet exist.

For my checking, there would be no unmatched Back bets (Back bet not yet triggered) so I'd be assuming that the offset had been matched whereas it doesn't actually exist.

If the delay can happen then how can I "truly" identify that all offset (Back) bets have been triggered and matched?

Thanks

Yes that could happen. In the Beta version you have the option to add an additional column named "Offset bet matched flag". This column will contain "Y" when all offset back bets have been triggered and matched. Additional columns start at column Y.

Ah, that could be handy.

I'm not sure that the flag will completely resolve my problem which is complicated by the fact I have 2 worksheets active for the one market. I want to check whether the offset for the original place bet on that particular worksheet has been fully matched. I don't think that the flag that you mention will distinguish between the two worksheets and their bets.

It should work. The flag is based on the bet from the bet ref column, not on the selection.

This is sounding even better.

Can I now check, if the flag is based on the Bet Ref column, if my code clears the Bet Ref, does that impact the way the flag works or is the original Bet Ref still held internally within BA?

It will only work if the bet ref is present. It doesn't matter however if it is removed and then repopulated so your spreadsheet could record it and repopulate if necessary.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
