EXPOSURE_OR_AVAILABLE_BALANCE_EXCEEDED Error Message

Postby throwmeadisc » Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:42 pm

Hi,

Could anyone explain why this bet would receive this error message in Excel?

EXPOSURE_OR_AVAILABLE_BALANCE_EXCEEDED

Market: Place
Bet: LAY-IP
Stake: 36.80
Odds: 1.05

Event: Sthl 21st Feb - 15:25 To Be Placed
Selection: La Estrella
Bet time: 15:24:30

I calculate the liability to be 1.84 and my bank size is 810.00

This is the second time this has happened at these low odds. The other time the odds were 1.04 and the liability was about the same.

The bet was attempted at 30 secs before the off.

Many thanks,

Al :?

Next time it happens check the transaction log under the accounts menu and check if the requested odds and stake are the same as you expected. You can only get that message if the exposure is genuinely exceeded. It might be that the correct odds are not being read by BA for some reason.

Did you have any bets on other markets? The exposure limit applies to all bets not per market so if you were sending other bets at the same time or had other markets with exposures it may have triggered.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I do have bets in other markets but nothing at all to exceed the exposure.

But anyway it happened again today and I have the info from the Transaction Log which is quite interesting...

So the bet that was trying to be made from Excel was....

LAY-IP
Odds: 1.04
Stake: 40.50
Liability: 1.62
on the Place market.

And this is what I found in the Transaction Log:

ID: 156
Time: 03/03/2012 14:14
Bet Ref: 0
Description: Layed Mottley Crewe @ odds:30, stake:40.5 (Excel trigger:LAY-IP, Odds:30 Stake:40.5 Tick offset:0 Fill or kill:-1)
API Response: EXPOSURE_OR_AVAILABLE_BALANCE_EXCEEDED
Response: 99

Now there is no way that I would be specify odds of 30, but I do see in the Transaction Log for other bets being Layed at 30 too, so I am guessing it's a process that BA does to get below the minimum stake. Of which I do regularly.

But in this instance I am not betting below minimum stake. But this process is causing a liabilty of 1174.50 which is above my Betfair account amount and causing the error.

So Gary can you take a look at this problem again?

I am going to save the whole Transaction Log in case you would like to see it.

Many Thanks,

Al :?:

Are you absolutely sure your trigger is supplying the odds you are expecting? BA does not use odds 30 as part of the below minimum bets process. The log does suggest that the odds column contained 30 at the time it was triggered.

Hi Gary,

I have just been through my formula again and found the error on my part. It had been specifying odds of 30 is certain situations.

Really sorry to have wasted your time.

Thanks,

Al

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
