Refresh Rate

Postby macdos01 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 9:24 am

Hi there,

I've used betting assistant for about a year now and haven't had any issues with the refresh rate, but it appears I am now.

I use excel, and specifically the cell Q2 to set the refresh rate in seconds (either 10 seconds or 1 seconds depending on how close to the off). My formaul has not changed but recently when it approaches the off betting assistant appears to continue refreshing at approximately 10 second intervals.

Is there a way that I can check to see what Betting Assistant is 'trying' to refresh at, (i.e. has it picked up on my 1 second interval but just cannot achieve this for some other reason, or has it not actually processed the change in the cell value from 10 to 1).

At first I thought it was that my excel thread was busy (as I have increased the amount of work excel is doing) as indicated by the error log and that betting assistant can't take any information from excel when it is busy. But then I noticed that there are many occasions that excel is not busy but the rate does not change.

Any suggestions on what might be happening or ways I can try to investigate it further?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Is "Enabled triggered betting" ticked when you set up the Excel link? It will only process cell Q2 when this is ticked. You can check the refresh rate it is actually trying to refresh at by looking at the refresh rate in Betting Assistant in the top left hand corner.

Hi Gary,

Yup, enable triggered betting is ticked. And I've checked the refresh rate is trying to be 1.0 seconds... The excel error log does have a lot of the excel thread busy messages but not at this specific time. I'm still at a loss for any ideas...

Can you check if BA itself is refreshing at 1 second. What does the "Actual refresh rate" show at the top of the BA window?

BA was refreshing at around 10 seconds (10000ms). Excel crashed and when I restarted it this time it seemed to go back to normal. I'm guessing it was something wrong with excel. Sorry for this one mate. Thanks for your efforts, as always.

Hello, can you tell me, what is the optimal refresh rate? I now if it is too low, I can have to pay extra to Betfair, but i don't remember what is the limit.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
