Unmatched or partially matched bets.

Postby cic » Wed Mar 14, 2012 2:03 pm

I am not sure how to proceed. I am presently triggering bets with the following

=IF(AND(OR(A5=$A$18,A5=$A$19),TEXT($D$2,"hh:mm:ss")<"00:01:03"),"BACK-F0",0)

The only issue is that on occasion it is sometimes unmatched or only partially matched. I'm not sure what triggers should follow. I would like for my calculated stake to be filled at best available (so if volume doesn't permit in G1 then go to next odds). I am just a bit lost at how to express this using available triggers. Also wht location in the string does the letter P appear for partially matched? or Unmatched? I need this to adjust staking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have read the manual and i'm stuck.

In column R (asked odds) eg R5 place '=D5'
this way you ask odds same as the current second best back odds.
Your liability will be probably get covered.

Thanks for the response. I had considered that. though it is not ideal. Often times i will be completely matched at the best odds so i would prefer to first proceed by taking those (represented by the above formula) and in the event it is not matched or partially matched filling the remaining stake at lesser odds. Just don't know exactly how to approach it. Thankyou though. Appreciate you time. Will continue browsing the forum to try and find a solution. Anyone with any ideas?
Was thinking about using total matched with my precalculated stake cell like so

Code: Select all
IF(AND(OR(A5=$A$18,A5=$A$19),OR(W5<Q14,W5<B14),TEXT($D$2,"hh:mm:ss")<"00:01:03"),"BACK-F0-CLEAR-UPDATESTAKE-UPDATE-BACK")

My stake would be adjusted like so

[code]=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(A5,A18:B19,2,FALSE)),0,(VLOOKUP(A5,A18:B19,2,FALSE)-W5)

Would this work? Would this loop until my stake was filled?
Look forward to your responses.

You can use the 2nd best odds as I suggested and in column V you will get the averaged matched odds and in column W your matched stake.
You can also use the time in column U for further checks - time that has lapsed from the bet

Hi Alrodopial,

I'm not really following what your saying. Perhaps i don't understand how betfair matching works. If i use second best odds as you suggest, once placed will it first take the best odds and then if there some stake unmatched take next best odds. Is that how it works. If so interesting didn't know. Would make life much easier for me. Look forwrd to your response. Many thanks

BF will match you at the best odds and the remain unmatched part of your bet (if any) will get matched at the 2nd best odds.
BA will display the average odds where you got matched and the total amount matched of your bet

eg if you ask to get matched at 1.01 odds and the best odds available is 4.3 will get matched at 4.3 by default (for the amount that is available at 4.3)
If your stake is larger than this amount you will then get matched at e.g 4.2 etc

The process of getting matched at better odds than requested is what Betfair call 'Best Execution'

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
