It cannot update Excel because Excel is busy.

Is your spreadsheet using VBA?

Is Excel using a large amount of CPU in task manager? If it is then maybe your VBA code is taking too long.

Thanks Gary, yes it is using vba, i was thinking that it could be a problem with my code, although strangely the problem is not persistent, it seems that everything starts ok, but problems only develop after market changes.

I noticed that cpu usage yesterday was as high as 40% in total, that was with three instances of BA open linked to about twenty workbooks, on a fairly powerful dual quad core machine.

I tried to replicate the problem this morning, to see if I could find out what was causing this, and strangely I encountered the following when I attempted to change market:

09:17:18:484: Requesting Excel refresh. Origin cell:A1
09:17:18:531: Excel updated.
09:30:16:835: Excel not updated. Requesting bets refresh. Last bets refreshed market does not match current market.

This seemed to have broken the excel link altogether. Could my VBA code be causing this? Is it possible that somehow my excel linking is somehow not operating correctly, would it be worth reinstalling betting assistant?

Thanks

Graham

Yes, it's my slow code, although if i run it on a machine with a fast internet connection it seems ok, although using a lot of cpu. Is it possible that a slowish connection could compound the problem?

Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
