Excel processing bet speed (Video)

Postby jc0r » Tue Oct 30, 2012 12:41 pm

Hi all, i am currently looking at how fast Excel triggers process. In this following video, which i have slowed down, you can see that the bet is submitted at 18 seconds but it takes until 26 seconds into the video before the bet is executed. It would appear that the bet is only sent on when the next refresh inside BA occurs. Is there a way that the bet can submit as soon as i trigger the cell rather than having to wait for BA's refresh?

For reference i am using Win XP / Excel 2003

No, it reads the triggers on each refresh so will not know about the trigger until the next refresh.

What you want to do is "push" the request to Betting Assistant and the only way to do that is using the COM interface. You can read about the COM interface in the user guide. It basically involves a VBA statement to place the bet.

Thanks a lot Gary, nice to know it is possible. Can COM be used alongside the Excel logging function or should i rewrite my sheet to specifically use just one method or the other?

Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
