random pc reboots

Postby dflowe » Sat Dec 15, 2012 7:41 pm

Hi guys, here is a little problem for all those computer knowledgeable people on this forum........
when running BA on my PC with auto update in the spread sheet my pc reboots approx once a week, when not running BA my pc is fine for months.
I have the latest version.....I think.....of BA 1.1.0.66x84.....any ideas please?

Betting Assistant will not cause your PC to reboot. I think anything you have observed is likely to be coincidental. Windows update will reboot your PC if auto update is enabled which is highly likely.

Betting Assistant is written in VB.Net. This is managed code which runs at a high level far removed from the underlying OS so an inadvertent reboot from even the most poorly written VB.Net code is not likely.

HI Garry, Auto updates are turned off for notifications......I know its not that.....and I am not sugesting a code error either as I have it running on anothre pc that is fine......but has a diferent xl sheet ie no auto update but the basic maths are the same.......
I am just looking for suggestions to try as its damm anoying when you check all is well before I go out and when I come back the pc has rebooted.......if I log out of the BA and excel every 3 days I have no problems.....and now as I have actually written it down I can ask this question.....could there be a memory usage issue? I am using xl sp3....
the pc is stripped out so no unnessasary software running.....it also has a ups on the mains.....

Maybe something is causing some kind of "system failure"?

Try right clicking My computer >Properties>Advanced system settings>
Advanced tab? There you will have Start up and recovery settings.

You could see if there is a log already or set it to make one?
Also make sure there is no tick in the checkbox to "Restart automatically"?

Maybe this could help, maybe not?

All the best - Michael

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
