Can anyone explained why this happened to me??

Postby TheLongGame » Fri May 03, 2013 12:21 pm

Hi
I am fairly new to Gruss and still learning all the settings.

Yesterday i was getting involved with the racing when something strange happened and cost me money but i dont know why!!

On my grid i have a few custom lay colums, of which one is lay@30 for 10 pounds with a stop loss in at odds on 10.5.
Yesterday when i hit the colum i got matched, with profit showing plus 10 pounds or minus 290 pounds.
A couple of seconds later the horse faded and drifted in the market and the software placed a bet for for at 42 pounds @ 1000\1 leaving me minus 32 pounds!!
Can anyone explain why this might have happened.

This morning i updated to beta version 1.1.0.66x84, as i heard about the chase option which i never had.could it have been that i had a old version installed.!!???

Any ideas??

many thanks

Was this near the end of the race or did the horse fade quickly? The stop loss could have only have been placed if the odds went to 10.5 or below. If the odds went down and then it drifted quickly it could have been that it placed the stop loss bet around odds 7, stake £42, but got matched at 1000. I'm positive there isn't a bug which would make it actually request £42 at 1000.

You can check the transaction log under the accounts menu if it happens again to see the odds actually requested.

If you go to the betfair website and look at your settled betting history for the race you'll be able to see the exact odds the bet was submitted at. The Bet history shows the odds requested as well as the odds matched.

Had the same problem myself yesterday. I work BA through an excel sheet and my bet history on betfair stated that I had a few bets placed which wouldn't have been driven from the bot. The stakes were a lot bigger than the stake I had set and they went on at odds a long way from the bot bets.

That's not correct Capt. The odds req. and average odds matched are always the same.

Sounds to me like the horse fell just as your bet was being processed.

I guess they must have changed it Ian, been a while since I checked but it used to be available via the API and the history page to see the requested as well as matched odds. Bit pointless Betfair having the column if they're just going to be the same but that's Betfair all over :x

Hi all, the odds on my betfair statment are just the ones matched at 1000.
I think what gary said is right, there must of been a big spike in the market. The horse never fell as it was a flat race.

Thanks all for your input. great help.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
