Is there a limit on the number of runners in a market ?

Postby GoB » Wed Sep 25, 2013 3:35 pm

Betfair currently have a market that I want to bet in that has 316 runners (Cycling / UCI World Championships 2013 / Mens Elite Road Race
). I've never known a market with > 200 runners before

I can load the market up in Gruss but I get no bets appearing and can't place any bets which makes me wonder whether there is a limit. Also I can't get anything at all appearing in Excel

Contacted Betfair but they weren't helpful

Hi,

You need to get our Beta version as markets this big aren't handled well in the current official version.

Download the Beta via the following link:-

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark

I think I was already using the latest beta version (66x84) but I re-installed anyway. Still having the same issues with this particular market. Is it just me ?

Just for information...

I have just tried to load this particular market and have had no problems
whether for the winner or top 3 - both ladder and grid are fine for me.

Having said that I feel it useful to mention that the whole markets took
between 8 and 20 seconds to load up fully. (Version 1.1.66.85g).

Windows 7 - Hope this is of some help?

A quick follow up to also add that I have had no trouble placing bets or
linking to an Excel spreadsheet - in fact it all worked pretty quickly.
I can also see all available odds and amounts.

Ttfn again - Michael

I had downloaded the old beta - above link needed a 2 at the end :)

All is ok now (apart from BFs daft idea of having 300+ selections in a market to start with). Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
