Recording the winner ??

Postby excelhasey » Sun Oct 06, 2013 6:44 pm

In my results tab after each event I see a Bet Ref in Column A and the Selection name in Column B but how do I get the actual race details that is stored in the Selections tab in cell A1 ???

I can't see where or what tells the excel spreadsheet to record Bet Ref in Column A and the Selection name in Column B how does it know to do that ??

Also, how do I get excel to record the winner of each race all I can think of is place 1p on every selection that way it will record in the Results tab col F will say Result_Won or Lost (it automatically does this now) but I then would like to copy or list the winner in another tab we will call it Winner tab but without any cell spaces in between i.e. say we want this in Col C of Winner tab and first race horse 4 wins so Results tab will say Result_Lost in F2 (horse 1), Result_Lost in F3 (horse 2), Result_Lost in F3 (horse 3), Result_Won in F4 (horse 4), Result_Lost in F5 etc and so on for each race but I only want to list the cells that say "Won" as well as the actual race details that is stored in the Selections tab in cell A1 in Winner tab Col A

Make any sense ??

The spreadsheet will record bet results because you've ticked the "Log Bet Results" box in the excel options when logging to excel. Everything is then handled by the program rather than any code within your excel sheets. It'll just check the bet id's via the API to get the won/lost status every now and then.

The other bit is far too complicated without any full stops to make sense for me :) Do you need the winner as part of some betting strategy or just so you know who won? I've always just use sporting life results to seee who's won and when I automated things I just used the betfair results rss files at http://rss.betfair.com/RSS.aspx?format= ... ountryID=1

I'll go ahead and give this a try. Would be interesting to see if I'll be able to set this up.

Depends what you are trying to achieve, but in general, the runner that finishes with lay odds of 1.01 will be the winner.

Of course, there are photo finishes and occasions when the odds won't get to 1.01 but if you want to feed in the result of the race into the next, then this can work quite well if you are willing to accept that it isn't 100% accurate.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
