Transaction Charges

Postby andak fedal » Wed Oct 16, 2013 1:30 pm

Is it true Betfair have scrapped transaction charges in an attempt to increase liquidity? Or something that is planned maybe?

If it isn't, is there a way of checking when your transactions have hit 1000 for the current hour in the excel sheet?

Thanks

They have scrapped transaction charges on a trial basis for those who pay 40% premium charges I believe.

The new API that it's being tested right now is free from charges and limits until the end of this month so i believe a lot of people are using this "no limit" chance to check if the have something to gain from it (and if it covers the cost of the paid API).

It's a lot better thought out than the old API, now uses JSON which lots of web services use as the data is a lot smaller than the current API plus you can now call multiple markets etc with one call etc etc

The main benefits of the new API include:

Extended free trial period - access to API-NG is free of charge to all developers until 1st November 2013.

No data request charges for requests made via API-NG.

Lightweight protocol (JSON/JSON-RPC).

Configure the depth of the best prices returned to you.

Rollup available prices - you can configure the rollup amount and type.

Retrieve data from multiple markets in one request.

Retrieve matched and unmatched bets and prices available via a single request

Search by MarketType (MATCH_ODDS, WIN, PLACE etc.) flags which remain the same, regardless of language.

Search for in-play markets.

View ‘result’ by selection after settlement.

View virtual prices.

Thanks Captain for the info
Do you know if that or how that could
affect cross matching experience ?

I am also wondering if BA is ready to exploit all new API's capabilities?
(Probably this is for Gary)

Hi,

We will be migrating to API-NG and to that end are having a meeting with the Betfair API team very soon to discuss how and when.

The current API service will eventually be retired.

Regards,
Mark

Shouldn't have any effect on cross matching as everything xmatching is done at source before the data is even released to users. I think the only change re:x match is that the x match prices will now be included within the API data rather than any software having to recreate them using betfair's formula

I don't think so. I think it was a one time deal. I hope they change their mind anyway.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
